Here at C.A. Tiling we aim to move with the times. We have seen a sharp rise in demand for large format tiles over the past 10 years mainly on floors but also on walls. Laying large format tiles is different to laying smaller tiles as it requires adhesive to be applied to the floor and also to the back of the tiles to ensure 100% coverage and support when laid. We also use a levelling system to achieve the best possible finish. As well as the evolution of tile sizes materials have also evolved to suit customers needs for wet rooms with the ever popular tiles backer boards and cement boards. Most tiles backer boards are 100% waterproof and exactly the type of material you need in a wet area while cement board is water resistant and also a good choice for heavy tiles on walls nearly 3 times stronger than plasterboards.
For new build properties we highly recommend an uncoupling membrane before tiling floors as they are high risk for movement as they take time to settle in the ground, without it your tiles can crack if the substrate does. An uncoupling mat will ensure a tiled floor remains intact even if the substrate moves or cracks over the years. We have also visited customers houses so many times where the bathroom tiles on timber floors have cracked. The methods and adhesives we use at C.A. Tiling ensures these problems are a thing of the past.
As well as laying large format tiles and using the latest materials under floor heating is as popular as ever particularly kitchen and bathroom floors. For electric heating systems we can provide an electrician or are happy to work with yours to achieve your heating needs. Electric under floor heating mats are typically used on smaller floors. Hot water underfloor heating is more suitable for larger floors and this is usually under the screed. The adhesives and grouts we use all work well with under floor heating.
